Natural Stone: 99% Recycled Material
Lithoverde is the only natural stone in the world comprised of 99% post-industrial recycled material. British architect, John Pawson, designed the House of Stone Exhibit for the Milan Design Show. It has been awarded “The Best Installation of the Year,” and is now permanently installed at Milan’s Triennale Design Museum. Lithoverde may contribute to LEED MR 4 (Materials and Resources, Recycled Content) and ID (Innovation in Design). Lithoverde is also in the process of being certified by SCS (Scientific Certification Systems).
The process by which this product is developed is revolutionary:
- Stone scraps are drylayed in layers to form a block.
- The block is then infused with a soy-based poly-amid binder to create a tight bond.
- The block can then be handled like any other block of stone; it can be sawn into slabs or tiles, or carved for multi-dimensional designs such as sinks, columns and other structures.
