Description
Vision Glass mosaics are color throughout tiles with an
iridescent (flicker finish) or translucent (clear finish)
appearance. Each mosaic piece has tapered edges, back-cut at
a 45 degree bevel on the underside producing a light/shadow effect.
Colors & Finishes
There are eight colors in the Vision Glass series as shown below.
All colors are offered with Clear and Flicker finishes.
The clear finish has a light orange peel texture with a
glossy sheen. The Flicker finish features an iridescent surface.
Sizes
Standard nominal (and actual) sizes are: 1"x1" (0.98"x0.98"),
1"x2" (0.98"x1.97"), and 1"x4" (0.98"x3.94"). All mosaic tiles
have an actual thickness of 5/16" (0.31"). The 1"x2" and 1"x4"
mosaics are available in either stacked or brick patterns. All
sizes are available in 12"x12" sheets. The 1"x1" mosaic sheets
are mesh mounted while the 1"x2" and 1"x4" sheets have clear
plastic on the surface.
Applications
Vision Glass mosaic tiles can be used on residential interior walls
and low traffic bathroom floors. It is also suitable for commercial
interior walls. Common applications include: bathroom walls and
floors, kitchen backsplashes, column wraps, furniture fronts,
swimming pool interiors and other vertical decorative surfaces.
Installation and Maintenance
Underlayment should be either fully cured concrete or properly
installed cement backerboard, and must be dry, stable, flat and free
of foreign substances, with no risk of water seepage. More attention
and care is required when installing this product than traditional
glass mosaics. To achieve the light/shadow effect of the tapered
edges, the grout or adhesive needs to fully fill the gap between
the mosaic pieces. A thicker layer of adhesive should be used to
allow more flow and full coverage. As the mosaic sheets are
supplied with plastic facing, it is also possible to pre-butter the
back of the sheet prior installation and partially fill the joint
opening. Do not use a jagged edge applicator. Existing joints in
subsurface must be carried through tile work. Expansion joints
should be installed at all "changes of plane" and where tile abuts
restraining surfaces. Recommended grout joint width is at least
1/8". For 1/8" joints, grout with un-sanded grout, Laticrete 1600
series. Silicone caulking sealant must be installed in all corner
joints in the place of grout.

Cutting Tiles
Use a standard new, sharp blade suitable for cutting glass tiles,
which must be constantly kept wet with water. Cutting the pieces
after taping both sides will reduce chipping. Cutting must not be
carried out near the edges of the individual pieces. Smooth off any
sharp edges with sandpaper. Holes can be made with a specific drill
bit for glass with a diameter up to 5/16". Apply water continually
while drilling.
