Warehouse Shipping Associate / Full Time Hourly / Carlstadt, NJ

Job Summary

The Warehouse Shipping Associate is responsible for the efficient day to day hands-on operation of the shipping department in conjunction with company goals and standards and in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below. Key Responsibilities

  • Wear the proper safety equipment, understand and comply to all safety requirements, policies and procedures
  • Responsible for quality control of work being produced
  • Ability to lift material not to exceed 70 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances
  • Ability to climb stairs frequently (35 stairs are used to climb to the mezzanine)
  • Ability to climb onto a forklift (Bendi first step is 18” from floor) and on to a Cherry picker (first step is 12 inches from floor)
  • Ability to operate equipment with no restrictions (stopping and starting)
  • Ability to communicate with and work well with customers, clients, customer service reps, sample clerks, product specialists and sales staff as needed
  • Physically pull orders accurately
  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed
  • Distribute items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or other designated areas
  • Maintain storage area by organizing floor space and recommend improvement
  • File requisitions, work orders or receipts of material/requests for material
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders and examine upon arrival
  • Maintain inventory by conducting daily physical counts; reconciling variances; inputting data
  • Oversee the movement of material from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner
  • Maintain record keeping systems and mark material with part numbers, date and lot codes, revisions, etc.
  • Accomplish warehouse objectives by developing, implement and adhering to warehouse policies and procedures

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses machinery and equipment such as forklifts (Bendis), Cherry Pickers, hand trucks, a time clock/punch clock system and others. Must be able to function well in a loud, fast-paced environment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to lift, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift products (not to exceed 70 pounds); operate machinery; work in a non-air conditioned warehouse.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, generally Monday through Friday.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Education and Experience

One (1) to two (2) years of prior warehouse experience.
