IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In general, mosaics can be difficult to maintain in flooring applications with heavier traffic, particularly due to the amount of grout required. Textured materials are more difficult to maintain than honed or polished. Use a sealer to minimize staining. See the Applications Guide PDF for alternatives.

ABRASION RESISTANCE

Low

This material has low abrasion resistance. It rates as a 1-3 on the Mohs scale. Light scratching will occur with exposure to sand and other abrasives. The finish will patina or dull over time as a result of this scratching. Always use a cutting board for countertop applications and walk-off mats at entrances in flooring applications.

ABSORPTION

Moderate

This material has a low to moderate absorption rate. Always seal this material prior to use. To reduce the appearance of stains, always wipe up spills immediately. Oil and highly-pigmented liquids can penetrate and stain the stone and may need poultice to remove the stain.

ACID SENSITIVITY

High

This material is highly sensitive to acids. Acid etching will be highly visible on this material when exposed to acidic foods such as lemons or tomatoes. Do not use this material on kitchen countertop applications where acid etching is a concern. If acid etching is a concern, select a minimally sensitive material.

FREEZE-THAW

Not Recommended

Due to known material weakness or because this material has not been tested, this material is not approved for use in exterior applications.

Crema-D-Orcia-Textured-Marble

Cream D’ Orcia

Finish: Textured
Material: Limestone
Collection: Raw

Raw is a collection of natural stones given a raw, primitive texture which is dramatically emphasized when proper lighting is cast upon it. The collection was designed by Piero Lissoni.

With an extraordinary attention to detail and a playful approach to life and design, Lissoni is able to transform natural stone, a material that has been used in architecture and design for centuries, into an extraordinary canvas for texture and shadow.  By examining the detail and experimenting with its surface and the treatments applied to it, Lissoni creates nuances which are at first glance small, then upon further interaction become grand in scale.  In the case of Raw, Lissoni evolved the traditional appeal of the world’s most popular marble and limestone, then provided a rough cut, engraved effect on the surface.  This evolution of nature is taken a step further as materials are cut into modern planks as typically seen in wood. The result is a handcrafted, yet raw, appearance that can be best summed up by the description “precisely rugged”.

Raw was selected as a finalist in the Interior Design Magazine Best of Year Awards 2014.
