Eme

Inspired by the Mediterranean sea, the Eme porcelain tile collection mimics the look of sedimentary rock fragments broken down into angular shapes. Made in Spain, the surfacing comes in three muted shades — Eme Grey, Eme Light Grey, and Eme Anthracite. Tiles are available in rectangular formats from 12” x 24” up to 48” x 106” and in square formats from 24’’ x 24’’ up to 48’’x 48’’. Eme comes in a 20mm, 9mm, or 6mm thickness, the last which requires less complex tile adhesives for interior wall slabs, reducing tile-laying time and costs. The low-maintenance tiles are appropriate for high commercial traffic, exterior cladding and pavers, interior walls and floors, countertops, and wet areas such as showers. While all three shades are offered in a natural finish, Anthracite also comes with an anti-slip finish.

ABRASION RESISTANCE

High

This material has relatively high abrasion resistance. It rates as a 7 or higher on the Mohs scale. Quartzite or granite typically fall into this range. This material is less likely to scratch than marble, limestone, onyx, slate, etc.

ABSORPTION

Low

This material is virtually non-porous. No sealer is required and it is less likely to stain.

ACID SENSITIVITY

Minimal

This material is minimally sensitive to acids. It will not acid etch or lose its surface sheen when exposed to acidic liquids such as lemons or tomatoes.

FREEZE-THAW

All Exteriors

Due to this material's Minimal or Moderate Absorption rating, its Abrasion Resistance rating, color fastness and tensile strength, this material is suitable for all exterior applications where freeze-thaw cycles are a concern. Use TCNA standards for setting in exteriors and consult an engineer regarding fastening systems and tensile strength required for your project.
