IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This stone has some element of free iron in it which can oxidize or rust over time when exposed to heat or moisture. This is inherent in the material. If this is a concern, choose a different material. See Applications Guide for alternatives. Due to the incredibly High Abrasion Resistance of this material, it can be difficult to quarry and fabricate. This affects availability, fabrication lead times and cost. This material has a high absorption rating and will stain when exposed to oil and highly-pigmented liquids (i.e. wine). This material typically has naturally-occurring cracks and fissures. Expect to see factory repaired (resin, etc.) cracks and fissures.

Luce di Luna Slabs (Finish: Polished)

Digital image color may vary from actual slab coloration. Photos are examples only. Actual stock changes frequently. Please contact your Stone Source Sales Consultant to view photos of slabs currently in stock. Each slab will have different characteristics. It is recommended that slabs be inspected prior to purchase.

ABRASION RESISTANCE

High

This material has relatively high abrasion resistance. It rates as a 7 or higher on the Mohs scale. Quartzite or granite typically fall into this range. This material is less likely to scratch than marble, limestone, onyx, slate, etc.

ABSORPTION

High

This material has a medium to high absorption rate. Always seal this material prior to use. Properly seal the material prior to grouting by applying several coats of sealant or until water beads up on the surface. Use Fila PRW200 to avoid staining from grout residues and specify a grout color that is similar to the color of the stone to avoid color bleeding into the material. Use low moisture setting materials. To reduce the appearance of stains, always wipe up spills immediately. Oil and highly-pigmented liquids can penetrate and stain the stone and may need poultice to remove the stain.

ACID SENSITIVITY

Minimal

This material is minimally sensitive to acids. It will not acid etch or lose its surface sheen when exposed to acidic liquids such as lemons or tomatoes.

FREEZE-THAW

Not Recommended

Due to known material weakness or because this material has not been tested, this material is not approved for use in exterior applications.
