Lane
A glazed porcelain tile designed by Barber & Osgerby for Mutina. Lane is the result of a conceptual analysis of color, interpreted through a detailed study of the neighborhoods and architecture of London. There are 3 styles (Base, Poly, Mono). Base is formed by a mix of different tones. Poly, like facades in London, consists of a number of strong colors that stand out against the background shade. Mono is the optical, black and white version. Tiles are consistent and opaque with slightly irregular edges and a soft base structure, which gives the piece an almost hand-crafted appearance. Install tiles horizontally, vertically or in a criss-cross pattern.
About Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby
Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby opened their London studio in 1996. Their multidisciplinary approach pushes the boundaries of industrial design towards art and architecture. They joined the Mutina team in 2013. They designed Lane, Mews, Mistral and Puzzle collections. Their work includes collections for Knoll, Vitra, B & B Italia, Cappellini, Venini and Flos, limited edition pieces and commissions such as the London 2012 Olympic Torch and the £2 coin designed for the Royal Mint. The first extensive monograph on the pair was published by Rizzoli New York in 2011. They are both Royal Designers for Industry (RDI) and Honorary Doctors of Art. Their work is included in the permanent collections of museums around the world, such as the V&A and Design Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Chicago’s Art Institute.

This material is virtually non-porous. No sealer is required and it is less likely to stain.
ACID SENSITIVITY
Minimal
This material is minimally sensitive to acids. It will not acid etch or lose its surface sheen when exposed to acidic liquids such as lemons or tomatoes.
FREEZE-THAW
All Exteriors
Due to this material's Minimal or Moderate Absorption rating, its Abrasion Resistance rating, color fastness and tensile strength, this material is suitable for all exterior applications where freeze-thaw cycles are a concern. Use TCNA standards for setting in exteriors and consult an engineer regarding fastening systems and tensile strength required for your project.
